#GGJ17 - 48 Hrs Rapid Game Development
I participated in Global Game Jam this weekend past, it was great! I am a complete newbie when it comes to this sort of rapid collaboration and it was a fantastic experience. The main thing I learnt was to ask your team for iterative feedback, being a bit green, I sat in the background and just made a few basic tunes, they could've been better suited to the finished game if I'd asked for that feedback. You can watch a stream of the finished game play below.
Part of the loose music objective was to use one instrument to create the music/sound, so I used a Toy Piano that I had sampled and packaged as a Kontakt instrument for Sonus Instruments. All the current music in the game was created only using this instrument with some creative mixing/pitching/warping to create different textures.
A link to the game download is available on the Gam Jam website HERE, it is PC only.
In all it was a great experience and I look forward to having another crack next year. It forced me to get out of my comfort zone of orchestral or country pop music and really pushed my creativity.
